synonymous mutation
How Do Synonymous Mutations Occur?
Synonymous mutations occur due to changes in the
codons
within the
DNA
sequence. For example, if the codon for leucine (CUC) is changed to another codon for leucine (CUU), the amino acid sequence remains the same despite the nucleotide change.
